2027 Wuhan Marathon
The 2026 Wuhan Marathon is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, with the gun firing in Wuhan. The event features two races: the marathon (42.195 kilometers) and the half marathon (21.0975 kilometers). The total number of participants is 30,000, with 17,000 for the full marathon and 13,000 for the half marathon. The starting point is located at San Yang Intersection along the Yangtze River Avenue, and the finish line for the half marathon is at Shu Juan Road, while the finish line for the full marathon has been adjusted to Qingshan Jiangtan for the first time.
This year's Wuhan Marathon has a theme of "Flowers Bloom in a Cluster", and the race has undergone comprehensive upgrades in terms of the course, scale, and event services. The registration channel opened on December 12, 2025, with a lottery system followed by payment. As a phenomenon-level event in the Chinese marathon scene, the 2026 Wuhan Marathon attracted over 450,000 registrations, showcasing the "Cherry Blossom Course" and the "Heroic City" charm to invite global runners to join a spring rendezvous.
Highlight 1: Historic Upgrade of the Course, Achieving Full Coverage of Seven Central Districts of Wuhan
The 2026 Wuhan Marathon course has undergone the most significant adjustment since its inception. Qingshan District was included in the marathon course for the first time, and the finish line for the full marathon was moved from Wuhu Guze Valley to Qingshan Jiangtan. Thus, the Wuhan Marathon course now covers all seven central districts of Wuhan: Jiang'an, Jianghan, Qiaokou, Hanyang, Wuchang, Hongshan, and Qingshan. Runners will start from Yangtze River Avenue in Hankou, pass through the bustling streets of old Hankou, pass by Wu Sheng Road carrying memories of Wuhan, cross the "First Bridge of the Yangtze River" in Wuhan, gaze at the Yellow Crane Tower with its thousand-year history, enjoy the scenery of the East Lake Greenway, and finally cross the finish line at Qingshan Jiangtan, creating a unique race experience of "Starting on the North Bank and Sprinting on the South Bank". The latter half of the course has become more level, especially the last 6 kilometers along the riverfront, with wide views and beautiful scenery, providing an excellent stage for the athletes to fully sprint.
Highlight 2: New Record for the Event Scale, With Registrations Exceeding 450,000
To meet the needs of more runners for "running and admiring cherry blossoms", the 2026 Wuhan Marathon further expanded the event scale. The number of participants for the full marathon increased to 17,000, and the number for the half marathon rose to 13,000, a total of 30,000 participants. According to the new regulations of the Chinese Athletics Association, the 13-kilometer health run was cancelled, and resources were concentrated to create the two core events of the full marathon and the half marathon. The race started with the full marathon participants at 7:30 and the half marathon participants at 7:45. As of the end of registration, the number of registrations for the 2026 Wuhan Marathon exceeded 450,000, once again demonstrating the strong appeal of "Wuhan Marathon" as a top-level marathon event in China.
Highlight 3: "Cherry Blossom Course" Version 4.0, 42.195 Kilometers of Flowers Accompanying
Since 2023 when the Wuhan Marathon met the Cherry Blossom Season, the "Cherry Blossom Course" has become the most recognizable label of the Wuhan Marathon. In 2026, the Wuhan Marathon created "Cherry Blossom Course" Version 4.0, with the 42.195-kilometer course connecting 27 cherry blossom points. The Wuhan Garden Department planted and arranged nearly 1，000 cherry blossoms and 150 crabapples， with a total of over 3，500 cherry blossoms and crabapples along the entire course. Particularly notable is the newly completed Qingshan Jiangtan finish area， which has a 760-meter-long "Cherry Blossom Runway"， with 78 groups of painted cherry blossom patterns stretching along the road， complementing the 60 or so newly planted cherry blossom trees along the roadside. Runners run among the cherry blossoms， using their feet to measure the landscape of the heroic city， completing the final sprint between the flowers and the river breeze.
Highlight 4： Comprehensive Upgrade of Services， 8，000 Volunteers Guarding the Running Experience
In response to the new change of the full marathon finish line moving to Qingshan Jiangtan， the 2026 Wuhan Marathon upgraded its event service guarantee in all aspects. The Wuhan Bus Group dispatched 52 buses and 22 rescue vehicles to stand by along the race route, and 30 transfer vehicles efficiently connected to facilitate the quick arrival of all the finishers of the marathon at the Metro Line 5 Construction Second Road Station. Over 8,000 university student volunteers were on duty throughout the event, providing warm services with professionalism and enthusiasm. Additionally, participants who registered through the Bank of China APP could receive free training courses jointly launched by Bank of China and Keep, covering all stages from pre-race, during the race, to post-race. From the "time-based reservation" at the collection stage to medical care, supplies, and rescue during the race, the Han Marathon provided meticulous service standards, allowing every runner to run with peace of mind and return happily.
