The total number of participants for the 2026 Xi'an Marathon is 36,000, with two categories: full marathon and half marathon. There are 24,000 spots for the full marathon and 12,000 for the half marathon. The Xi'an Marathon, founded in 2017, not only ignited the city's enthusiasm for sports but has also become a shining city brand. Over 10,000 runners set off from Yongningmen, joining a running rendezvous in the autumn of Chang'an.

The starting point of the race is on the east side of the Pan Road adjacent to the Yongningmen South Square. The finish line for the full marathon is at the Xi'an Olympic Sports Center Stadium, while the finish line for the half marathon is at the Xi'an International Convention and Exhibition Center. The entire race route connects the Ming City Wall, Bell Tower, the National Heritage Site of Daming Palace, the Chunba River Ecological Green Corridor, the International Convention and Exhibition Center, and the Olympic Sports Center. Runners can enjoy the profound heritage of the thirteen dynasties and the vigorous vitality of a national center city along the way.

This year's Xi'an Marathon adopts a "three-gun start" zone-based starting mode, effectively alleviating the congestion at the start and ensuring orderly passage of the race route, significantly enhancing the participation experience for ordinary runners. Additionally, the event introduces a special award for breaking the competition record, balancing the experience of ordinary participants with professional competitive standards, and helping elite runners push their limits and shine.

This event deeply explores the cultural characteristics of the ancient capital and creates a new immersive cultural event scene. Before the race, special collection interaction sessions such as theme photo shoots and Hanfu and Tang costume welcoming teams were launched; on the day of the event, 40 themed cultural service stations were set up along the race route, featuring performances of intangible cultural heritages like Qin Opera, traditional drum music, and Han and Tang-style dances. The event also collaborated with museums and local cultural brands to launch a variety of special official cultural products. During the event, it also held the third Xi'an Sports Consumption Carnival and the fourth Western Consumption Premium Expo, linking with all city scenic spots, restaurants, hotels, and shopping districts to offer exclusive preferential benefits and consumption rights.
