2027 Nanjing Marathon
The 2027 Nanjing Marathon is scheduled to start with a gunshot in Nanjing on November 2027 (the exact date will be announced by the official authorities). Since its establishment in 2015, the Nanjing Marathon has been awarded the title of "Gold Medal Event" by the Chinese Athletics Association and the "Gold Label Event" by the World Athletics Federation. The starting point of the event is located at the east gate of Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, and the finish line is at Yanziji Riverside Park. The race route connects six major urban areas of Jianye, Yuhuatai, Qinhuai, Xuanwu, Gulou, and Qixia. In 2027, the event is expected to only feature the full marathon event, continuing to use this renowned "perfect" classic route, allowing runners to fully enjoy the unique scenery of Jinling's "mountain, water, city, and forest" and the profound heritage of the ancient capital of Six Dynasties.
Highlight 1: World Athletics Federation Gold Label Certification, China's Top Marathon Event
Since its establishment in 2015, the Nanjing Marathon has always aimed to be a World Athletics Federation Gold Label Event. In 2025, the Nanjing Marathon officially upgraded to a World Athletics Federation Gold Label Event. In 2027, the Nanjing Marathon will continue to maintain this highest-level certification, representing the top-level organizing standards of Chinese marathon events, attracting the attention and participation of top global elite runners and tens of thousands of ordinary runners.
Highlight 2: "Perfect" Route Connecting Mountains, Rivers, and Cityscapes, Revealing the Ancient Charm of Jinling
The Nanjing Marathon route is praised by runners as the "Perfect" route - in Nanjing dialect, "Perfect" means "excellent, perfect". The starting point is located at the east gate of Nanjing Olympic Sports Center, and the finish line is at Yanziji Riverside Park. The route successively connects six major urban areas of Jianye, Yuhuatai, Qinhuai, Xuanwu, Gulou, and Qixia. During the race, runners will pass by Purple Mountain, Xuanwu Lake, and the banks of the Yangtze River, experiencing the natural scenery of Nanjing in autumn; crossing the Ming City Wall, Confucius Temple, and Yanziji, exploring the profound heritage of the ancient capital of Six Dynasties; encountering Xinxikou, Nanjing Railway Station, and TV Tower, feeling the strong pulse of urban development. A 42.195-kilometer run connects the 2,000-year urban history and modern atmosphere of Nanjing.
Highlight 3: Full Marathon Single Event Focuses on Elite and Mass Runners, 26,000 People Attend the Jinling Invitation
The 2027 Nanjing Marathon is expected to only feature the full marathon event. All event quotas are divided into elite athlete quotas and mass runner quotas. Elite runners adopt a targeted invitation model. Based on the 2026 event scale, the mass runner quota is 26,000. The event adopts a batch start method to optimize the starting experience of the athletes. The setting of the single full marathon event ensures the competitive level of elite runners while providing a top-level participating experience for mass runners.
Highlight 4: Ten-Year Anniversary Rekindles Glory, Services and Experiences Are Fully Upgraded
The 2026 Nanjing Marathon marked its ten-year anniversary. Taking this as an opportunity, Nanjing Marathon continuously optimized its event services and runner experience - new performance requirements were set, and multiple types of direct access quotas such as performance direct access, beloved direct access, and permanent number direct access were set; a pre-drawing and payment system followed by a waiting list withdrawal mechanism was implemented. A series of ten-year anniversary activities and rich participation supporting services were launched simultaneously. In 2027, Nanjing Marathon will continue to maintain this high-quality service standard, from pick-up to crossing the finish line, from supplies to security, with meticulous service guarantees to create an unforgettable running feast in Jinling for every runner.
